This M2 seminar reads selected theoretical work by 4 scholars, Jesse Oak Taylor, Sarah Wood, Ursula Heise and Nicholas Royle, in preparation of an international conference devoted to how literary thinking responds to extinction, past, present and future. It also reads some 19th century and 21st century literary and critical writing on the advent of the so-called "Anthropocene."
