This is a broad overview of current U.S. political issues, with a general focus on the historical and sociological backgrounds to why such and such issues are of particular relevance to U.S. society and U.S. politics today.

The first course(s) address very general questions regarding U.S. institutions, before more specific questions are dealt with.

The sources we use to illustrate and engage with the course itself are very varied : press articles, speeches, scholarly articles in journals, videos, excerpts from U.S. series, cartoons, etc.

Students are very welcome to participate actively in class, despite the circumstances (number of students, amphitheater).

If possible, the whole course will be conducted in the English language.

The specific exam format will be made clear very shortly, before the end of September 2019.
