This course is designed to develop an analytical framework on the organisational dynamics of businesses in order to enhance our management practice. Thus, we will put the spotlight on work organisations and more specifically on their behaviour, what interests they serve, how they shape social relations and, conversely, under what conditions they change and how they can be influenced.

After a very brief introduction to research methods in sociology, we will explore work as a polysemous concept by questioning its role in our daily life, the socio-cultural representations and the administrative systems that frame this human activity.

Anchored in contemporary organizational issues, the course focuses on the phenomenon of digitalization of companies. The objective here is to present what innovation is and to explore more specifically the dynamics of creation-implementation of digital tools, how employees use and disseminate them within an organization. Through this prism, we will open the discussion on workplace transformations and resistance to change.

Finally, we will analyse a work organisation not only as a set of rules and procedures that structure its activities, but also explore it from the angle of a social network in which power struggles as well as acts of cooperation are exercised.
