L1 Law - Week 10

Introduction to Constitutional Law

Tens of thousands of people have protested in France after President Emmanuel Macron forced through controversial pension reforms.

Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne invoked article 49:3, a constitutional power that meant a vote on the move was not needed, avoiding a possible government defeat.

Protests unfolded on the streets of Paris and inside the National Assembly building as the government pushed through the rise in retirement age.
