Welcome to the Linguistics: Diachrony course! 

This syllabus contains a basic description of the origins of the English language, its genesis, and its evolution from Old English till the present
day and describes the main external socio-historical events that shaped the English language as we know it today.  In this course you will also learn about Historical Linguistics,  the study of the history and development of languages. 

This syllabus is accompanied by an exercise workbook with exercises that will be assigned as homework or done in class.
