Welcome to second-year grammar. This course continues the first-year
tradition of looking at English grammar from a different perspective. We
look at English from a slightly theoretical, linguistic point of view.
The goal is to understand not only what the rules are but why they the
way they are and how different aspects of grammar interact with one
another.
You will find information on the reading below, under
the heading "course readings". Below that section you will find
reading assignments and exercises to accompany the exercises. You will
also find presentations to help you understand the readings.
Each
week I will give you a new assignment - reading from Chapter 4 and
exercises that go along with the readings. I will also add keys to the
exercises so that you can correct your work.
If you have any questions, you can contact me on the forum below or by sending a private message.
During
Week 5, I will give you an online activity to do that will count for
20% of your final mark. You will then have an exam during exam week that
will count for 80% of your final mark.
