The purpose of this lecture is to provide an understanding of the working of the European monetary and financial system taking into account specificities driven by integration. After a general overview of the working of European monetary and financial system, it covers economic and financial impacts of European monetary integration. It also deals with the organization of the monetary policy within euro zone, by contrast to other major monetary area.
