The course is designed to prepare students for research into historical subjects in English, but also to widen general culture through studying historical issues. The approach is thematic. Students are expected to consult documents in English or other languages outside the lessons to give more depth to their critical analysis of the topics studied. As grammar and langage are studied via often coplex texts, students who have difficulties understanding this introductory text are advised to study by themselves, using the CRL and internet resources.
Assessment will be in two stages, a short oral presentation and a written test in week 10.
